Hadith 7002

Um Haram asked, "What makes you smile, O Allah's Apostle?" He said, "Some of my followers were presented before me in my dream as fighters in Allah's Cause, sailing in the middle of the seas like kings on the thrones or like kings sitting on their thrones." (The narrator 'Is-haq is not sure as to which expression was correct). Um Haram added, 'I said, "O Allah's Apostle! Invoke Allah, to make me one of them;" So Allah's Apostle invoked Allah for her and then laid his head down (and slept). Then he woke up smiling (again). (Um Haram added): I said, "What makes you smile, O Allah's Apostle?" He said, "Some people of my followers were presented before me (in a dream) as fighters in Allah's Cause." He said the same as he had said before. I said, "O Allah's Apostle! Invoke Allah to make me from them." He said, "You are among the first ones." Then Um Haram sailed over the sea during the Caliphate of Muawiya bin Abu Sufyan, and she fell down from her riding animal after coming ashore, and died.

Hadith Commentary:
One of the important proofs of the Prophethood of the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) is also this hadith: to make such an accurate prediction about a person's circumstances is not possible for anyone except a Prophet.
Ibn Teen said: Some have taken evidence from this hadith that the caliphate of Muawiyah (radi Allahu anhu) was also valid.

Hadith Commentary:
In this hadith, it is explicitly stated that the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) visited the house of Umm Haram bint Milhan (radi Allahu anha) during the day. There, after partaking of food, he rested at her home, and in his sleep he was shown that which was later fulfilled word for word. Thus, during the caliphate of Uthman (radi Allahu anhu), an army set out on a naval expedition. Umm Haram (radi Allahu anha) was also with them. The commander of this army was Amir Muawiyah (radi Allahu anhu). When they returned, Umm Haram (radi Allahu anha) disembarked from the naval fleet. A mount was provided for her for the journey on land. She fell from the mount and, due to a broken neck, drank from the cup of martyrdom. In any case, whether a dream occurs during the day or at night, there is no difference between them. And Allah knows best.
