Hadith 700

حَدَّثَنَا مُسْلِمُ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ عَمْرٍو ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، " أَنَّ مُعَاذَ بْنَ جَبَلٍ كَانَ يُصَلِّي مَعَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، ثُمَّ يَرْجِعُ فَيَؤُمُّ قَوْمَهُ " .
Narrated Mu`adh bin Jabal: I used to pray the `Isha prayer with the Prophet and then go to lead my people in the prayer.

Hadith Commentary:
There is brevity in this narration.
Its details will be mentioned in the following narration; however, in this narration, there is no intermediary between Imam Bukhari rahimahullah’s teacher, Muslim ibn Ibrahim, and Shu’bah, thus this chain is ‘ali (elevated). In the other hadith, there is the intermediary of Ghundar between Imam Bukhari and Imam Shu’bah.
In other words, compared to the first narration, its chain is safil (lower).
In addition, in the next narration, there is explicit mention of ‘Amr’s hearing (sama‘) from Jabir radi Allahu anhu.
