Allah, the Exalted, said: "And with (Yusuf) there entered the prison two young men. One of them said: 'I see myself (in a dream) pressing wine.' The other said: 'I see myself carrying bread on my head, and birds are eating from it.' 'Tell us the interpretation of this, for indeed, we see you as one of the doers of good.' He said: 'No food will come to you (in the prison) as your provision except that I will inform you of its interpretation before it comes to you. That is from what my Lord has taught me. Indeed, I have left the religion of a people who do not believe in Allah, and they, in the Hereafter, are disbelievers. And I have followed the religion of my fathers, Ibrahim, Ishaq, and Yaqub. It is not for us to associate anything with Allah. That is from the favor of Allah upon us and upon the people, but most of the people are not grateful. O my two companions of the prison! Are separate lords better or Allah, the One, the Prevailing? You do not worship besides Him except (mere) names which you have named, you and your fathers, for which Allah has sent down no authority. The command is for none but Allah. He has commanded that you worship none but Him. That is the correct religion, but most of the people do not know. O my two companions of the prison! As for one of you, he will pour wine for his lord to drink; and as for the other, he will be crucified, and the birds will eat from his head. The matter has been decreed about which you both inquire.' And he said to the one whom he knew would be released: 'Mention me to your lord.' But Satan made him forget to mention (it) to his lord, so (Yusuf) remained in prison for several years. And the king said: 'Indeed, I see (in a dream) seven fat cows being eaten by seven lean ones, and seven green ears (of corn) and (seven) others dry. O assembly (of my people), explain to me my vision if you should interpret visions.' They said: 'It is but a mixture of false dreams, and we are not learned in the interpretation of dreams.' But the one who was freed of the two (prisoners) remembered after a time and said: 'I will inform you of its interpretation, so send me forth.' 'O Yusuf, O man of truth! Explain to us about seven fat cows eaten by seven lean ones, and seven green ears and (seven) others dry, that I may return to the people so that they may know.' (Yusuf) said: 'You will plant for seven years consecutively; and what you harvest, leave it in its spikes, except a little from which you will eat. Then will come after that seven difficult (years) which will consume what you saved for them, except a little from which you will store. Then will come after that a year in which the people will be given rain and in which they will press (wine and oil).' And the king said: 'Bring him to me.' But when the messenger came to him, (Yusuf) said: 'Return to your lord.' «وادكر», «ذكر» is on the pattern of ifti‘al. «أمة» (with a sukun on the meem) means «قرن», i.e., time/period, and some have read it as «أمة» (with a fatha on the meem). And Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: The meaning of «يعصرون» is: they will press grapes and extract oil. «تهنون» i.e., «تحرسون.», meaning: you will preserve (store) it.
Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah's Apostle said, "If I stayed in prison as long as Joseph stayed and then the messenger came, I would respond to his call (to go out of the prison) ."

Hadith Commentary:
But it was the courage and fortitude of Yusuf (alayhis salam) that even after such a long period, he did not wish to leave the prison until the matter was clarified.

Hadith Commentary:
Prophet Yusuf (alayhis salam) had such strength of heart and resolve that even after such a long period, he did not wish to leave the prison until his matter was clarified. However, this does not necessitate that Prophet Yusuf (alayhis salam) is superior to our Messenger, the Noble Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam), because the kind of sentiments expressed by the Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) were due to humility, modesty, or some particular expediency.
And Allah knows best.
