Hadith Commentary:
(1)
It should be clear that "Haruriyyah" are those attributed to the village of Harura, from where the leader of the Khawarij, Najda al-Amiri, emerged. The fault of these people was that they opened the door to unauthorized interpretations (ta'wilat) in the Noble Qur'an, and on this basis, they fell into intellectual decline. Despite their outward religiosity, they gained nothing. They faced humiliation and disgrace in this world, and in the Hereafter, not only will they be deprived of reward, but they will also be subjected to various forms of punishment.

(2)
Imam al-Bukhari rahimahullah cited the hadith of Ibn Umar radi Allahu anhuma for the reason that in the first hadith, Abu Sa'id al-Khudri radi Allahu anhu had refrained from making a judgment regarding the Haruriyyah. This hadith clarifies that the aforementioned hesitation was because the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam did not mention them by name when describing their characteristics. However, those described characteristics do indeed apply to these Khawarij, who are called Haruriyyah, as Ibn Umar radi Allahu anhuma has clarified. (Fath al-Bari: 12/362)

Hafiz Ibn Hajar rahimahullah, referencing Imam Nawawi rahimahullah, has written that Abu Sa'id al-Khudri radi Allahu anhu considered these Khawarij to be disbelievers (kuffar) and regarded them as excluded from the Ummah of response (ummat al-ijabah). And Allah knows best. (Fath al-Bari: 12/361)

Commentary:
(1)
This hadith shows that only a few people will be influenced by the erroneous ideas of the Khawarij; most Muslims will remain steadfast upon the truth regarding them.
And they will continue to fight these misguided ones and eradicate them.

(2)
This misguidance will continue to appear in the Ummah in later times as well; however, the people of truth who confront them will continue to fulfill their duty.

(3)
It appears that the Dajjal will also attempt to present falsehood as truth in a similar manner and will mislead people.
He and his group will be destroyed by ‘Isa (alayhis salam).
