Hadith Commentary:
The general implication of this hadith is that whether there is a fear of the food spoiling or not, whether it is the time for Maghrib prayer or any other prayer, whether the one eating is fasting or not, in every situation it is better to eat first. However, the condition is that there should be intense hunger and there should be ample time, because if there is no hunger, then the reason for leaving the congregation (jama‘ah) ceases to exist, and in the case of limited time, a major error would necessarily be committed, the explanation of which we have already mentioned earlier.
