Narrated Al-Bara 'bin `Azib: A piece of silken cloth was given to the Prophet as a present and the people handed it over amongst themselves and were astonished at its beauty and softness. Allah's Apostle said, "Are you astonished at it?" They said, "Yes, O Allah's Apostle!" He said, "By Him in Whose Hand my soul is, the handkerchiefs of Sa`d in Paradise are better than it."

Hadith Commentary: The indication of the Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) was that even the greatest of worldly blessings does not possess more value or worth than the handkerchief with which a person of Paradise wipes his nose and mouth.

Hadith Commentary:
A handkerchief is considered to have a very low status among garments, because it is used to clean the hands or to remove dust from the face. In Paradise, even this lowly piece of cloth will have such a status that, in comparison to it, the greatest of worldly blessings will hold no value whatsoever.
When this is the worth and value of a mere inferior cloth,
then the beauty and adornment of the finest and most superior garments of Paradise is certainly beyond our imagination.

Hadith Commentary:
(1)
In the presence of the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam), the noble Companions (radi Allahu anhum) touched the silk cloth and expressed their amazement at its softness. The Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) did not comment on their touching it; rather, he responded to their amazement. From this, Imam Bukhari (rahimahullah) has established that wearing silk is forbidden, but touching it is permissible.
(2)
Sa’d bin Mu’adh (radi Allahu anhu) was the chief of the Ansar, which is why the Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) made special mention of him, because those who touched the silk cloth and expressed their amazement and wonder at it were the Ansar. The Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) mentioned only the handkerchief, because it is generally used to wipe sweat and hands, and it is not regarded with respect. When the handkerchief of Sa’d bin Mu’adh (radi Allahu anhu) is praiseworthy, then, by greater reason, any other garment of Paradise will be even more worthy of praise.
