`Abdullah added: The Prophet said, "I am your predecessor at the Lake-Fount, and some of you will be brought in front of me till I will see them and then they will be taken away from me and I will say, 'O Lord, my companions!' It will be said, 'You do not know what they did after you had left.'

Hadith Commentary: (1) The Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam described the Hawd al-Kawthar (Pond of Kawthar) and its water in these words: "Its water will be whiter than snow and sweeter and more delicious than milk mixed with honey. Its drinking vessels will be more numerous than the stars, and I will drive away other people from it just as a man drives away the camels of others from his own pond." The Companions radi Allahu anhum asked: "O Messenger of Allah! Will you recognize us on that day?" He replied: "Yes, there will be a special sign for you which will not be for any other community. You will come to me in such a state that your foreheads and hands and feet will be shining due to the marks of ablution (wudu)." (Sahih Muslim, Kitab al-Taharah, Hadith: 581 (247)) Then, among those who perform prayer, there will be some people who will commit grave innovations, regarding whom the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said: "Some people will come to me; I will recognize them and they will recognize me, then a barrier will be set up between me and them. I will say: 'They are of me.' It will be said to me: 'You do not know what new things they invented in the religion after you.' I will say: 'Distance, distance for the one who changed the religion after me.'" (Sahih Muslim, Kitab al-Fada'il, Hadith: 5968, 5969 (2290, 2291))
