Hadith 6549

Narrated Abu Sa`id Al-Khudri: Allah's Apostle said, "Allah will say to the people of Paradise, 'O the people of Paradise!' They will say, 'Labbaik, O our Lord, and Sa`daik!' Allah will say, 'Are you pleased?" They will say, 'Why should we not be pleased since You have given us what You have not given to anyone of Your creation?' Allah will say, 'I will give you something better than that.' They will reply, 'O our Lord! And what is better than that?' Allah will say, 'I will bestow My pleasure and contentment upon you so that I will never be angry with you after for-ever.' "

Hadith Commentary:
(1)
After granting Paradise and all its blessings, the Noble Lord’s asking His servants, “Are you pleased and satisfied?” is in itself such a great blessing. Then, the gift of perpetual pleasure and the declaration that He will never be displeased again—how immense a favor and grace this is! Indeed, Allah’s pleasure is higher and greater than Paradise and all its blessings. The statement of Allah, the Exalted, is:
“A slight pleasure and approval from Allah is the greatest (blessing).” ()

(2)
There will be another announcement for the people of Paradise, even greater than this, and distinct from it. The Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) said:
“When the people of Paradise enter Paradise, Allah, the Exalted, will say to them: ‘Do you wish that I should grant you something more?’ The people of Paradise will say: ‘O Allah! You have brightened our faces and admitted us to Paradise, saving us from the Fire—what could be greater than this?’ The Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) said:
‘After the servants give this reply, suddenly the veil will be lifted, and they will be gazing at their Lord. Then they will realize that, of all that they have received so far, the most beloved and precious thing for them is this very vision of Allah (didar-e-ilahi).’
Then he (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) recited the following verse:
“For those who do good (in this world) and live a life of worship, there is a good place (Paradise), and (in addition to that) there will be an extra blessing (the vision of Allah).” (, and Sahih Muslim, Al-Iman, Hadith: 449, 450 (181))

Hadith Commentary:
All these rewards are acts of charity (sadaqah).
There can be no greater happiness for a slave than that his master is pleased with him, and this is the very meaning of “and the pleasure of Allah is greater” (wa ridwanun min Allah akbar).

Hadith Commentary:

The blessings of Paradise are innumerable and everlasting, but the pleasure and approval of Allah Ta'ala will surpass all those blessings. For a servant, what greater joy can there be than for his Master to be pleased with him forever? The statement of Allah Ta'ala is:
"Allah has promised the believing men and believing women gardens beneath which rivers flow, wherein they will abide forever, and pleasant dwellings in gardens of perpetual residence. But approval from Allah is greater. That is the supreme success." (al-Tawbah: 72)

This hadith explicitly states that Allah Ta'ala will converse with the people of Paradise. The people of Paradise will hear this blessed speech from Him, and there will be questions and answers. Allah Ta'ala will address them, and they will address Allah Ta'ala. This conversation will occur repeatedly. We have already explained earlier that the speech of Allah Ta'ala is related to His will; He can speak whenever He wills, however He wills, and to whomever He wills. His speech consists of sound and letters, which can be heard and understood. May Allah Ta'ala bestow this blessing upon all the believers. Ameen.

It should be clear that the aforementioned conversation of Allah Ta'ala with the people of Paradise is not limited to any specific group, but will be with the general people of Paradise, and Allah Ta'ala will honor the people of Paradise with the dignity of conversation on multiple occasions.

Hadith Commentary: Benefits and Issues: From this hadith, it is understood that Allah’s pleasure is far superior and higher than Paradise and all its blessings. That is why it is stated:
Allah’s pleasure and approval are greater than everything else.
“And in delight and joy, nothing surpasses the declaration of Allah’s pleasure except the vision of Allah.”
