Hadith Commentary:
This death will be brought forth embodied in the form of a ram.
Therefore, its being slaughtered is not at all contrary to reason.

In a narration from Abu Sa'id al-Khudri radi Allahu anhu, it is stated:
"Death will be brought in the form of a ram with black and white colors, and after being shown to the people of Paradise and the people of Hell, it will be slaughtered."
(Sahih al-Bukhari, al-Tafsir, Hadith: 4730)
In another narration:
"It will be slaughtered on the wall between Paradise and Hell."
(Jami' al-Tirmidhi, Sifat al-Jannah, Hadith: 2557)
The whiteness alludes to the beauty of the people of Paradise, and the blackness alludes to the ugliness of the people of Hell.

Some people have objected that death is an accident (a'rad) which has no independent existence of its own, so what does it mean to slaughter it? But this objection is merely for the sake of objecting and has no basis in reality, because the All-Powerful (Qadir Mutlaq) will give it the existence of a ram, and then it will be slaughtered.
In this manner, its being slaughtered is not contrary to reason, such that the hadith should be accused of being irrational.

From this it is also understood that after death is slaughtered, Hell will never be brought to an end at any time, rather it will remain forever.

Hadith Commentary: Benefits and Issues: These hadiths establish that Paradise (Jannah) and Hellfire (Jahannam) and their inhabitants will remain forever and ever; none of these things will perish.
