Narrated Salim: I heard Um Ad-Darda' saying, "Abu Ad-Darda' entered the house in an angry mood. I said to him. 'What makes you angry?' He replied, 'By Allah! I do not find the followers of Muhammad doing those good things (which they used to do before) except the offering of congregational prayer." (This happened in the last days of Abu Ad-Darda' during the rule of `Uthman) .

Hadith Commentary:
(1)
The relevance of this hadith to the chapter heading is established in that it mentions performing the prayer in congregation, which includes the Fajr (dawn) prayer as well. Those familiar with the methodology of Imam Bukhari rahimahullah know that, in his view, such a degree of relevance is sufficient. Hafiz Ibn Hajar rahimahullah, referencing Ibn al-Munir, has mentioned this correspondence and written that, apart from him, no other commentator has drawn attention to the appropriateness of the chapter heading. (Fath al-Bari: 2/180)
(2)
In this hadith, the Umm al-Darda’ radi Allahu anha referred to is the Tabi‘iyyah (female successor), whose name is Hujaymah. It is not Umm al-Darda’ al-Kubra who is a Sahabiyyah (female companion) and is famous by the title Kubra, whose name is Khayrah, because Umm al-Darda’ al-Kubra passed away during the lifetime of Abu al-Darda’ radi Allahu anhu, and Salim ibn Abi al-Ja‘d did not meet her. After her, Abu al-Darda’ radi Allahu anhu married another wife, who narrated this incident. (Fath al-Bari: 2/179)

Benefits:
➊ In the previous chapter, the virtue of performing prayer in congregation was mentioned; in this chapter, the specific virtue of performing the Fajr prayer in congregation has been stated, namely that the angels of the night and the day—who are appointed for the protection of a person or are assigned to record his deeds—gather at this time. In this respect, the morning (and Asr) prayer holds superiority over the other prayers.
➋ Abu Darda (radi Allahu anhu), in that era—which was better than all subsequent eras—said that only the congregation remains; so what will be the state of our era? Alas! In our time, people have even abandoned the concern for congregation. To come to the mosque for all five prayers and to perform prayer in congregation is a great matter; even on the eighth day, Friday, they do not come to the mosque. Upon this, the claim of Islam and the fervor of presenting oneself as a well-wisher of Muslims—this is a strange spectacle. [تيسير الباري]
