Hadith Commentary:
Before this, this marfu‘ (attributed to the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) hadith has already been mentioned through the chain of Imam Malik rahimahullah; now it has been narrated through the chain of Shu‘ayb. Thus, this is a connected and marfu‘ narration. The purpose of Imam al-Bukhari rahimahullah is that although this hadith mentions the general virtue of congregational prayer, nevertheless, the worshipper should perform the Fajr prayer in congregation so that, in addition to attaining twenty-seven times more reward, he also attains the company of the angels who attend the congregation at Fajr prayer to listen to the recitation of the Qur’an, and then present themselves before Allah and mention the righteous servants in good terms.
