Hadith 6487

Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah's Apostle said, "The (Hell) Fire is surrounded by all kinds of desires and passions, while Paradise is surrounded by all kinds of disliked undesirable things."

Hadith Commentary:
(1)
Its meaning is that whoever becomes a worshipper of carnal desires has, as it were, lifted the veil of Hell and thus reaches Hellfire. In the Noble Qur’an it is stated:
“Then, as for him who transgressed and preferred the life of this world, surely his abode will be Hell.” (An-Nazi‘at: 37-38)
In contrast, whoever endures disliked matters and hardships in order to act upon the religion of Islam, he will be a guest of Allah on the Day of Resurrection and will be admitted into Paradise with honor.
Allahumma aj‘alna min ahliha (O Allah, make us among its people).

(2)
The explanation of this hadith is found in another hadith, in which the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) said:
“When Allah, the Exalted, created Paradise, He said to Jibril (alayhis salam): Go and look at it. So he went and looked at it, then returned and said: O my Lord! By Your might, whoever hears of it will surely desire to enter it. Then Allah surrounded it with disliked things (makruhat), and said: O Jibril! Now go and look at it. So he went and looked at it, then returned and said: O my Lord! By Your might! I fear that no one will be able to enter it.
Then, when Allah created Hellfire, He said to Jibril (alayhis salam): Go and look at Hell. So he went and looked at it, then returned and said: O my Lord! By Your might! No one who hears of it will enter it. Then Allah surrounded it with carnal desires (shahawat), and then said to Jibril: Go and look at it. So he went and looked at it, then returned and said: O my Lord! By Your might! By Your majesty! I fear that no one will be able to escape entering it.”
