Hadith Commentary:
The narration of Ayyub has been connected (mawsul) by Imam al-Nasa'i, and the narration of 'Awf has been connected by Imam al-Bukhari in the Book of Marriage (Kitab al-Nikah).
By "the poor people in Paradise" are meant the monotheistic poor (fuqara' muwahhidin) who are followers of the Sunnah, and by "the women in Hellfire" are meant immoral (wicked) women.

Hadith Commentary:
(1)
In another hadith, these destitute Companions (radi Allahu anhum) are praised in a different manner. Three men came to Abdullah bin Amr (radi Allahu anhu) and said:
O Abu Muhammad! We have nothing—no provisions, no mount, and no equipment at all.
Abdullah bin Amr (radi Allahu anhu) replied:
What do you want? If you want some wealth, then come to us again; whatever Allah has made available for you through us, we will give you. And if you wish, we can mention your situation to the ruler of the time. Or, if you wish, you may be patient, for I heard the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) say that the poor emigrants (muhajirun fuqara) will enter Paradise forty years before the wealthy.
Upon hearing this glad tiding, the destitute poor said: We will be patient, and we will not ask you for anything.
(Sahih Muslim, Kitab al-Zuhd, Hadith: 7463 (2979))
In another hadith narrated from Imran bin Husayn (radi Allahu anhu), the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) said:
“Indeed, Allah loves His servant who has dependents and, despite being in need, does not ask (others).”
(Sunan Ibn Majah, Kitab al-Zuhd, Hadith: 4121)
(2)
It should be clear that the majority of the poor in Paradise will not be there due to their poverty, but rather because of the correctness of their creed and their zeal for righteous deeds. And if a poor person does not possess good character, then he is certainly not deserving of Paradise.
In any case, the hadith encourages abstaining from the pleasures of the world.
