Narrated Abu Dhar: Once I went out at night and found Allah's Apostle walking all alone accompanied by nobody, and I thought that perhaps he disliked that someone should accompany him. So I walked in the shade, away from the moonlight, but the Prophet looked behind and saw me and said, "Who is that?" I replied, "Abu Dhar, let Allah get me sacrificed for you!" He said, "O Abu Dhar, come here!" So I accompanied him for a while and then he said, "The rich are in fact the poor (little rewarded) on the Day of Resurrection except him whom Allah gives wealth which he gives (in charity) to his right, left, front and back, and does good deeds with it. I walked with him a little longer. Then he said to me, "Sit down here." So he made me sit in an open space surrounded by rocks, and said to me, "Sit here till I come back to you." He went towards Al-Harra till I could not see him, and he stayed away for a long period, and then I heard him saying, while he was coming, "Even if he had committed theft, and even if he had committed illegal sexual intercourse?" When he came, I could not remain patient and asked him, "O Allah's Prophet! Let Allah get me sacrificed for you! Whom were you speaking to by the side of Al-Harra? I did not hear anybody responding to your talk." He said, "It was Gabriel who appeared to me beside Al-Harra and said, 'Give the good news to your followers that whoever dies without having worshipped anything besides Allah, will enter Paradise.' I said, 'O Gabriel! Even if he had committed theft or committed illegal sexual intercourse?' He said, 'Yes.' I said, 'Even if he has committed theft or committed illegal sexual intercourse?' He said, 'Yes.' I said, 'Even if he has committed theft or committed illegal sexual intercourse?' He said, 'Yes.' "

Hadith Commentary:
By narrating through the chain of Zayd ibn Wahb, Imam al-Bukhari has established that Abdul Aziz heard directly from Zayd ibn Wahb, thereby removing any suspicion of tadlis (concealment in transmission).

Hadith Commentary:
(1)
The Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) informed his noble companions (radi Allahu anhum) that only those people will be able to cross the difficult passes of the Hereafter who remain light and unburdened in this world, and those who load themselves with more burdens in the world will not be able to cross those passes easily. For this reason, most of the companions preferred a life of poverty and scarcity for themselves. Thus, the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) said:
“The poor Emigrants (Muhajirun) will enter Paradise forty years before the wealthy.”
(Sahih Muslim, Kitab al-Zuhd, Hadith: 7463 (2979))
Hazrat Mahmood bin Labeed (radi Allahu anhu) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) said:
“There are two things which the son of Adam dislikes:
A person dislikes death, even though death is better for a believer than tribulation, and he dislikes having little wealth, even though having little wealth means less reckoning.”
(Musnad Ahmad: 5/427)
(2)
The intent of Imam Bukhari (rahimahullah) with this chapter heading appears to be that those who are wealthier in this world will be all the more destitute on the Day of Resurrection, because instead of using their wealth to build their Hereafter, they spent it on their adornment and luxury. Therefore, on the Day of Resurrection, they will be the embodiment of the following verse:
“You have exhausted your share of good things in your worldly life and you enjoyed them, so today you will be recompensed with a humiliating punishment.”
()
This is why, generally, those who disobey Allah Ta’ala appear more prosperous in worldly terms.
And Allah is the One whose help is sought.

Hadith Commentary: Benefits and Issues: (1)
The wealthy should spend their surplus wealth in all kinds of good deeds if they wish to attain high ranks on the Day of Resurrection. However, if they do not spend their wealth generously at all times and on every occasion, according to their ability, for charitable causes and for the betterment and interests of Islam and the Muslims, then they will be deprived of the highest ranks.
(2)
The essential characteristic and special distinction of tawhid (monotheism) is that if a person fulfills its right properly, he will go straight to Paradise. But if there is any deficiency or shortcoming in fulfilling its rights, then there will be an obstacle to the manifestation of this characteristic and distinction, and until this obstacle is removed, he will have to remain in Hellfire, and ultimately, he will attain salvation from Hellfire.
(3)
Theft and adultery are extremely heinous crimes, which are assaults on the wealth and honor and dignity of others. That is why the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) asked Jibril (alayhis salam) in a tone of amazement: Will the one who commits theft and adultery also enter Paradise? Jibril replied: Such a person will also not be deprived of Paradise. Rather, even one who commits the greater crime of drinking alcohol, if he is a monotheist (muwaḥḥid), will not be deprived of Paradise. Even though a drunkard is devoid of all forms of modesty and shame, and no kind of good can be expected from him.

Benefits and Issues:
This phrase "I sacrifice myself for you" or "I am devoted to you" is not an ordinary phrase; after the Messenger sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, it should only be used in contexts where there is happiness in this world and the Hereafter.
For example, a righteous mother, father, or firmly grounded, divinely guided scholars who are true teachers and callers to the religion in its correct sense.

Benefits and Issues:
Generosity can benefit only that person whose earnings are lawful (halal); therefore, it is extremely necessary to avoid unlawful (haram) earnings.
