Hadith Footnote:
O Allah! I am reaching seventy years of age. O Allah! Protect me from disgrace and humiliation after death, and protect all my noble well-wishers as well.
Ameen, O Lord of the worlds.

Hadith Commentary:
The human lifespan is divided into four parts:
➊ The age of childhood, until one reaches puberty.
➋ The age of youth, when one is young.
➌ The age of maturity, when one reaches sixty years.
➍ The age of old age, when one surpasses this.
In this age, a person’s strength becomes weak and he falls into decline.
Death also begins to hover over his head.
When a person reaches sixty years of age, Allah ta‘ala rejects all his excuses.
At that time, the excuse that he was given little time for repentance and seeking forgiveness will not be accepted, because from the age of puberty to sixty years is sufficient time in which a person can reflect and choose the right path.
A wish:
O Allah! After the death of my wife, my heart has become disinclined from the world and the people of the world.
At this time, my age is two years less than sixty.
My desire is that before reaching the Prophetic age of sixty-three years, the translation and benefits of the Qur’an’s exegesis (tafsir) and the two Sahihs (Sahih al-Bukhari and Sahih Muslim) be completed.
Fulfill this wish of mine and accept it as a perpetual charity (sadaqah jariyah) in Your presence.
O Allah! This is also my wish that before dying, I am not made dependent on anyone except Your mercy.
After death, also protect me from humiliation and disgrace.
It is also my desire that on the Day of Resurrection, grant me, along with my wife and children, parents, siblings, and friends, a place in Jannat al-Firdaws.
Ameen, ya Rabb al-‘Alamin.
