Hadith Commentary:
(1)
This hadith is called "Hadith of the One Who Performed Prayer Poorly (Hadith Musi’ al-Salat)."
This person used to perform the prayer hastily, so the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) instructed him to perform the prayer slowly and with composure.
The purpose here is not to teach the entire prayer, but rather to correct those aspects that required rectification.
This is why there is no mention of the sitting of rest (jalsat al-istirahah) or the tashahhud, etc., in this narration.
(2)
Imam Bukhari (rahimahullah) has established his intended point from this hadith because it mentions the reply to the greeting of peace (salam) with "wa ‘alayka al-salam," which the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) said.
The first hadith did not mention the sitting of rest (jalsat al-istirahah), but the second hadith establishes it because it is explicitly mentioned in this narration.
And Allah knows best.
