Narrated Al-Haitham bin Abu Sinan: that he heard Abu Huraira in his narration, mentioning that the Prophet said, "A Muslim brother of yours who does not say dirty words." and by that he meant Ibn Rawaha, "said (in verse): 'We have Allah's Apostle with us who recites the Holy Qur'an in the early morning time. He gave us guidance and light while we were blind and astray, so our hearts are sure that whatever he says, will certainly happen. He does not touch his bed at night, being busy in worshipping Allah while the pagans are sound asleep in their beds.' "

Hadith Commentary:
Hazrat Maulana Waheeduz-Zaman rahimahullah has translated these (meanings) into poetry.
A prophet of Allah recites His Book
And conveys it to us when the morning dawns
We were blind; it was he who showed us the way
This is a certain matter that takes root in the heart
At night, he keeps his side apart from his bed
The sleep of the disbelievers weighs heavily upon their sleeping places
In the first verse, there is an allusion to the knowledge of the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, and in the third, there is an allusion to his actions. Thus, in every respect, he is perfect and complete in both knowledge and action.

Hadith Commentary:
The practical form of striving (jihad) against the polytheists with the tongue has been described in this hadith.
Abdullah bin Rawahah radi Allahu anhu, in a single verse of poetry, praised the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam and condemned the polytheists. This is evidence that he possessed great mastery and ability in poetry.
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Rawahah radi Allahu anhu, in the first verse, described the scholarly state of the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam—that he had great interest in the Book of Allah—while in the third verse, he mentioned his practical state, that he would rise at night and engage in intimate supplication before his Lord.
In the second verse, there is an indication that the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam perfects others as well; that is, the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam is perfect in knowledge and action, and he perfects others.
