Hadith Commentary:

The late Iqbal expressed the meaning of this hadith in the following way:
"Attach yourself to Mustafa, for the religion is entirely him; if you do not reach him, all you have attained is Abu Lahab’s scent."
The essence of religion is that one follows the footsteps of the Noble Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) step by step. Apart from this, it is the religion of Abu Lahab; it is not the religion of Muhammad (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam).

"The best speech is the Book of Allah, and the best way is the way of the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam)."
(Musnad Ahmad: 319/3)
