Narrated Anas bin Malik: Allah's Apostle visited a household among the Ansars, and he took a meal with them. When he intended to leave, he asked for a place in that house for him, to pray so a mat sprinkled with water was put and he offered prayer over it, and invoked for Allah's Blessing upon them (his hosts).

Hadith Commentary:
This was the house of Itban bin Malik; some have said that it was the house of Umm Sulaym. And the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) made supplication for Anas (radi Allahu anhu), as has been mentioned above.

Hadith Commentary:
(1)
This hadith shows that going to someone's house to meet them, eating food there, and making supplication for the family is a Sunnah of the Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam). Accordingly, the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) went to the house of ‘Itban bin Malik (radi Allahu anhu), ate food there, and made supplication for the family. This was also the practice of the noble Companions (radi Allahu anhum).
(Fath al-Bari: 10/613) (2)
Meeting someone for the sake of Allah is also a source of blessing. Accordingly, it is narrated from Abu Hurairah (radi Allahu anhu) that the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) said:
“Whoever visits a sick person or visits his brother for the sake of Allah, a caller (angel) calls out: May your coming be good, may your steps be blessed, and may you have built a house for yourself in Paradise.”
