Hadith 5933

وَقَالَ ابْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا يُونُسُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا فُلَيْحٌ ، عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَسْلَمَ ، عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ يَسَارٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " لَعَنَ اللَّهُ الْوَاصِلَةَ وَالْمُسْتَوْصِلَةَ وَالْوَاشِمَةَ وَالْمُسْتَوْشِمَةَ " .
Narrated Abu Huraira: The Prophet said, "Allah has cursed the lady who artificially lengthens (her or someone else's) hair and the one who gets her hair lengthened and the One who tattoos (herself or someone else) and the one who gets herself tattooed"

Hadith Commentary:
(1)
The sins for which a warning of curse (la'nat) has been pronounced are called major sins (kabirah). Such sins are not forgiven without repentance (tawbah), and repentance must also be accompanied by the firm resolve to abstain from them in the future.

(2)
In any case, just as attaching artificial hair to one’s own hair is forbidden (haram), likewise it is also forbidden (haram) for a woman to shave her head. However, if there is a necessity, for example: if boils or similar ailments appear, then there is no harm in shaving the head.
