Hadith 5813

حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ أَبِي الْأَسْوَدِ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاذٌ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، قَالَ : " كَانَ أَحَبُّ الثِّيَابِ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنْ يَلْبَسَهَا الْحِبَرَةَ " .
Narrated Anas bin Malik: The most beloved garment to the Prophet to wear was the Hibra (a kind of Yemenese cloth).

Hadith Commentary:
Hibrah refers to the striped green cloak that used to be manufactured in Yemen.
The Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) preferred this cloak because, firstly, it was sturdy, and secondly, its color was such that dirt was not easily noticeable on it.
Ibn Battal has written that these cloaks were made from cotton in Yemen, and among them, this was considered the finest garment.
It was called hibrah because it was used as an adornment.

From this blessed hadith, it is clearly understood that striped clothing may be worn. Striped fabric does not appear dirty quickly. This is why it was more beloved to you, and such clothing also appears pleasing to the eye. And Allah knows best.
