Hadith Commentary:
According to some of the Salaf, wearing an overcoat is disliked (makruh) because it is worn by the monks of the Jews and Christians.
Imam al-Bukhari rahimahullah does not agree with this position.
Imam Malik was asked:
Is it permissible to wear an overcoat? He replied:
There is no harm in it.
It was said:
But Christians wear it. He replied:
Christians wear it where their region is.
