Hadith Commentary:
This is the most exclusive date of Madinah, which can be obtained there upon searching. Allahumma arzuqna, ameen. These narrations also shed light on the reality of magic.

Hadith Commentary:
(1)
In these hadiths, eating in the morning on an empty stomach is mentioned, but in no narration is eating at night mentioned. This means that if one eats in the evening, he will not attain the aforementioned benefit. Furthermore, in one narration, it is stated that this benefit will be obtained by eating the dates of Ajwah from the highland region (Aaliyah).

The Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said:
“Eating the dates of Aaliyah on an empty stomach in the morning is a means of cure.”
(Sahih Muslim, Al-Ashriba, Hadith: 5341 (2048))

In a hadith narrated from Abu Sa’id al-Khudri and Jabir radi Allahu anhuma:
“Ajwah date is from Paradise, and it gives cure from the effect of poison.”
(Sunan Ibn Majah, Kitab al-Tibb, Hadith: 3453)

(2)
The meaning of “from Paradise” is that the Ajwah date is blessed, or that this type of date has come to earth from Paradise, just as the Black Stone (Hajar al-Aswad) was sent from Paradise to earth.

Imam Khattabi rahimahullah states that this benefit of the Ajwah date is not intrinsic to it, but rather is due to the blessing of the supplication of the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam.
(Fath al-Bari: 10/295)

(3)
In the hadith, the mention is of eating seven dates; this specific quantity has been mentioned in several places. During his final illness, the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said:
“Pour seven water skins of water over me.”
(Fath al-Bari: 10/296)

As for the particularity of this number as a remedy, only Allah the Exalted knows what wisdom lies in it.
(Sahih al-Bukhari, Kitab al-Wudu, Hadith: 198)

Hadith Commentary:
In the chain of narration, the narrator Jum‘ah bin ‘Abdullah’s kunyah is Abu Bakr al-Balkhi, and his name is Yahya; Jum‘ah is his title.
Abu Khāqān is also his kunyah.
Only this single hadith is narrated from him in this book, and in the rest of the books of the Sihah Sittah, there is no narration from him.
‘Ajwah is the name of a superior variety of date found in Madinah.

Hadith Commentary:
(1)
‘Ajwah dates are blackish in color.
They are the finest variety among all dates and are found in Madinah Tayyibah.
By eating them on an empty stomach, the aforementioned benefit is attained.
The Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) made supplication (du‘a) regarding them, and due to the blessing of this supplication, this effect is found in them.
They do not possess any inherent (intrinsic) quality.
(‘Umdat al-Qari: 14/446)
(2)
Other benefits of this hadith will be mentioned in the Book of Medicine (Kitab al-Tibb), insha’Allah Ta‘ala.

Hadith Commentary:
There is an indication here regarding the reality of poison and magic: poison is an apparent (outward) thing, while magic is an inward (hidden) thing, yet in terms of their effect, both have been mentioned in the same category.
May Allah, the Most High, protect every Muslim man and woman from these afflictions.
Ameen.

Hadith Commentary:
(1)
What is the relevance of this hadith to the chapter heading? The commentators have remained silent on this matter.
Allamah ‘Ayni has only written to the extent that, in the chapter heading, the use of poison has been declared prohibited in an absolute sense, and in the hadith as well, its fundamental prohibition has been stated; therefore, magic and poison have been mentioned together.
(‘Umdat al-Qari: 14/755) (2)
In reality, Imam Bukhari rahimahullah has alluded to the true nature of poison and magic, because poison is an apparent thing and magic is a hidden thing.
A person’s body is affected by poison, and his mind is harmed by magic.
From the perspective of their effect, both have been mentioned in the same category.
Since magic is haram (prohibited), poison is also haram; therefore, it is not permissible to use it as a treatment either, as is mentioned in the hadith that Allah Ta‘ala has not placed a cure in haram things. May Allah Ta‘ala protect every Muslim from apparent and hidden illnesses.
Amin.

Hadith Commentary: Benefits and Issues: From this hadith, it is understood that Allah, the Exalted, has placed in the Ajwa dates of Madinah Munawwarah—which are the highest quality among dates—this effect and special property, due to the supplication of the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam), that consuming them daily in the morning in the number of seven protects a person from the harm of magic and poison.

Benefits and Issues:
Allamah Khattabi rahimahullah writes that this benefit of the ‘ajwah date is due to the blessing of the supplication (du‘a) of the Noble Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam.

Benefit:
The importance and virtues of the ‘ajwah date are established. Subhan Allah! How dangerous are poison and magic, yet Allah, the Lord of Might, has sent down a cure for every disease. Similarly, as a preventive measure, certain things have been made a shield against certain illnesses, just as there is a shield against poison and magic in the ‘ajwah date. In Sahih Muslim (2048), it is stated that the Noble Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) said: There is healing in the ‘ajwah dates of Madinah, and indeed, eating it in the morning is an antidote. In Musnad Ahmad (5/31) and Sunan Ibn Majah (3456), it is authentically established that the ‘ajwah date is from Paradise. However, there is a narration in which it is stated that the Noble Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) said to our master Sa’d ibn Abi Waqqas (radi Allahu anhu): You are suffering from a heart ailment; go to Harith ibn Kaladah of Banu Thaqif, for he practices medicine. He should take seven ‘ajwah dates from Madinah, crush them with their pits, and then give them to you to eat. (Sunan Abi Dawud: 3875) In its chain of narration is Ibn Abi Najih, who is a mudallis narrator, and he is narrating with ‘an‘anah, therefore this narration is weak. Furthermore, from this hadith and other ahadith, it is also established that the morning time is a time of goodness and blessing.
