Hadith Commentary:
Imam Ahmad narrated that those who die of plague and the martyrs will dispute on the Day of Resurrection. Those who died of plague will say, “We were killed just like the martyrs.” Allah, the Exalted, will say, “Alright, look at their wounds.” Then, when they look, their wounds will also be like those of the martyrs, and they will receive the same reward as the martyrs.

Imam al-Nasa’i has also narrated a similar hadith marfu‘an from ‘Uqbah ibn ‘Abd, but the author of Mishkat has transmitted a different narration from this in the Book of Funerals. And Allah knows best.

Hadith Commentary:
For this reason, it is prohibited to flee from plague-stricken areas or to enter them. In this disease, a person develops a swelling in the throat or armpit, and with severe fever, the person perishes within two days. This is also called the plague.

Hadith Commentary:
1.
In the title, seven types of martyrdom besides being killed are mentioned, whereas in the hadith only four types are stated.
In reality, Imam Bukhari rahimahullah wants to clarify that martyrdom is not limited only to jihad in the path of Allah, but there are other types of martyrdom as well. Although these other martyrdoms are equal in reward to the martyr of the battlefield, they differ from it in worldly rulings.
2.
Imam Malik rahimahullah has detailed the seven types of martyrdom in the Muwatta and has narrated a hadith regarding this.
(al-Muwatta’ of Imam Malik: 1/233)
Perhaps this narration did not meet the conditions of Imam Bukhari rahimahullah.
It is also possible that the narrator forgot the remaining types of martyrdom.
And Allah knows best.
3.
The remaining types of martyrdom are:

The one who dies by being burned in fire.

The one who dies from pneumonia.

The woman who dies in the state of postnatal bleeding (nifas).
Hafiz Ibn Hajar rahimahullah has mentioned fourteen such characteristics that are causes of martyrdom.

Benefits and Issues:
Abu Amrah is the kunyah of Hazrat Sirin, and Yahya was the brother of Hafsah bint Sirin. From this hadith, it is understood that this is the grace and blessing of Islam, that certain types of deaths become a means for a Muslim to attain the honorable title of martyr (shaheed), and he is honored with the distinction of being called a martyr.
