Hadith Commentary:
(1)
Lahi Jamal is a mountain pass and a well-known place near Juhfa. This location is at a distance of seven miles from Suqya. The Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam had a headache, so he had cupping (hijamah) performed.

(2)
In any case, cupping (hijamah) is a beneficial method of treatment, but only for the person whom a skilled physician advises. There is a risk of harm in having cupping done at the wrong place or by an inexperienced person, as Hazrat Mu‘ammar said that when he had cupping done, he lost his memory to the extent that even during prayer, he had to be prompted while reciting Surah al-Fatihah. He had cupping performed at the wrong place on his skull. (: Sunan Abi Dawud, Kitab al-Tibb, Hadith 3860)
