Hadith Commentary:
(1)
The eyes are among the most beloved organs of a human being. Their value and worth can be truly understood by those who are deprived of them. To be patient over their loss means that one should hope for reward from Allah Ta’ala, not complain to anyone about the loss of eyesight, nor express restlessness or agitation. Indeed, in one narration it is explicitly stated that along with patience, one should also intend to seek reward from Allah Ta’ala. (: Jami‘ at-Tirmidhi, Az-Zuhd, Hadith: 2401)

(2)
When Allah Ta’ala tests His servant, it is not out of displeasure; rather, through this He averts some other calamity, or makes it a means of expiation for his sins and elevation of his ranks. If one endures such a trial with a cheerful heart, his objective may be fulfilled.

Explanation:
1:
Among the blessings that a person receives from the Lord of all the worlds, the eye is a very great blessing. This is why, when the Lord of all the worlds takes away this blessing from a servant and the servant responds with patience and contentment, then on the Day of Resurrection, the reward that will be granted in exchange for this blessing is Paradise.
