Hadith 5622

حَدَّثَنَا مُسَدَّدٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُعْتَمِرٌ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ أَنَسًا رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، قَالَ : " كُنْتُ قَائِمًا عَلَى الْحَيِّ أَسْقِيهِمْ عُمُومَتِي وَأَنَا أَصْغَرُهُمُ الْفَضِيخَ ، فَقِيلَ : حُرِّمَتِ الْخَمْرُ ، فَقَالَ : اكْفِئْهَا ، فَكَفَأْنَا ، قُلْتُ لِأَنَسٍ : مَا شَرَابُهُمْ ؟ ، قَالَ : رُطَبٌ وَبُسْرٌ ، فَقَالَ أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَنَسٍ : وَكَانَتْ خَمْرَهُمْ ، فَلَمْ يُنْكِرْ أَنَسٌ ، وَحَدَّثَنِي بَعْضُ أَصْحَابِي ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ أَنَسًا يَقُولُ : كَانَتْ خَمْرَهُمْ يَوْمَئِذٍ .
Narrated Anas: I was waiting on my uncles, serving them with an alcoholic drink prepared from dates, and I was the youngest of them. (Suddenly) it was said that alcoholic drinks had been prohibited. So they said (to me), 'Throw it away." And I threw it away The sub-narrator said: I asked Anas what their drink was (made from), He replied, "(From) ripe dates and unripe dates."

Hadith Commentary:
Which was made from unripe and ripe dates.
It is obligatory upon the young to not show any negligence in every possible service; by serving the elders and the elderly, they should earn their supplications—this will be true good fortune.
Whoever becomes diligent in service, becomes honored by those he serves.

Hadith Commentary:
(1)
It is obligatory upon the young to serve their elders in every possible way, especially those elderly who are in need; by serving them, one should seek their prayers. This is a great blessing and good fortune.

(2)
According to this hadith, Anas radi Allahu anhu was the youngest, and he fulfilled the duties of serving his elders and seniors. Whoever serves someone today, tomorrow others will serve him. It is true:
Whoever serves, becomes served.
