Hadith Commentary:
From these authentic ahadith, it is understood that in the era of ignorance (Jahiliyyah), the Arabs were very fond of wine made from both raw and ripe dates, and these dates were abundantly available, from which a very fine wine was produced, which Allah made unlawful (haram).

Hadith Commentary:
(1)
In the Age of Ignorance (Jahiliyyah), the Arabs were very fond of wine made from raw (unripe) and ripe dates. Since dates were abundant there, they would distill wine from them, and the wine prepared from these was also of excellent quality, which Allah, the Exalted, made unlawful. Then, at the time of compliance with this command, the scene was such that wine was flowing in the streets and alleys of Madinah Tayyibah like water. In one narration, it is mentioned that Abu Talhah radi Allahu anhu said to Anas radi Allahu anhu: "Get up and break these pitchers." Anas radi Allahu anhu says that I had a pestle lying nearby, so I struck the lower part of the jars with it and poured out the wine. (Sahih al-Bukhari, Akhbar al-Ahad, Hadith: 7253)

(2)
In any case, the authentic narrations from Anas radi Allahu anhu regarding wine show that at that time, wine was prepared from both unripe and ripe dates. This refutes the position of the people of Kufa, whose stance is that "khamr" refers only to wine made from grapes, and that which is prepared from anything else is not khamr. The position of the people of Kufa is contrary to the Arabic language, the authentic Sunnah, and the statements of the Companions. And Allah knows best.
