Hadith 5568

'Take it away; I shall not taste it. (In his narration) Abu Sa`id added: I got up and went to my brother, Abu Qatada (who was his maternal brother and was one of the warriors of the battle of Badr) and mentioned that to him He Sa`d. Hadith Commentary:
(1)
In this narration, the mention of Abu Qatadah appears to be an error, because the name of the maternal brother of Abu Sa‘id al-Khudri radi Allahu anhu is Qatadah. Both of their mother is Anisah bint Abi Kharijah, who was from the Banu ‘Adi tribe. (Fath al-Bari: 10/32)

(2)
In one narration, it is mentioned that the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam stood during the Farewell Pilgrimage (Hajjat al-Wada‘) and said: “I used to forbid you from eating the meat of sacrificial animals for more than three days so that you would distribute it among the people, but now I have made it lawful for you, so eat from it as long as you wish.” (Musnad Ahmad: 4/15)

(3)
From this hadith, it is understood that the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, in the ninth year after Hijrah, due to a specific reason, imposed a restriction of eating (the meat) for three days, as people did not have sacrificial animals, so he ordered that this meat be given to those who could not offer a sacrifice. After that, this restriction was lifted and permission was granted to store this meat. (Fath al-Bari: 10/33)
