The Book of Slaughtering and Hunting
بَابُ لُحُومِ الْحُمُرِ الإِنْسِيَّةِ:
(28) Chapter. (It is unlawful to eat) the meat of donkeys.
Hadith 5524
حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ ، عَنْ عَمْرٍو ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، قَالَ : " نَهَى النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَوْمَ خَيْبَرَ عَنْ لُحُومِ الْحُمُرِ وَرَخَّصَ فِي لُحُومِ الْخَيْلِ " .
Narrated Jabir bin `Abdullah: The Prophet prohibited the eating of donkey's meat on the day of the battle of Khaibar, and allowed the eating of horse flesh.
