بَابُ إِذَا حَضَرَ الْعَشَاءُ فَلاَ يَعْجَلْ عَنْ عَشَائِهِ:Chapter. If super or dinner is served then one should not hurry to finish it [when the time for Salat (prayer) is due].
Hadith 5464

وَعَنْ أَيُّوبَ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنْ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، أَنَّهُ تَعَشَّى مَرَّةً وَهُوَ يَسْمَعُ قِرَاءَةَ الْإِمَامِ .
Narrated Nafi: Once Ibn Umar was taking his supper while he was listening to the recitation of (Quran by) the Imam (in the Isha prayer).

It is understood that when both food and the congregational prayer are present, then eating the food takes precedence; otherwise, the heart will remain preoccupied with it.
