Narrated `Aisha: (the wife of the Prophet) that whenever one of her relatives died, the women assembled and then dispersed (returned to their houses) except her relatives and close friends. She would order that a pot of Talbina be cooked. Then Tharid (a dish prepared from meat and bread) would be prepared and the Talbina would be poured on it. `Aisha would say (to the women),"Eat of it, for I heard Allah's Apostle saying, 'The Talbina soothes the heart of the patient and relieves him from some of his sadness.' Hadith Commentary: Due to a lack of nourishment, dryness in the limbs increases, especially in the stomach, and because of this dryness, the heart of a sorrowful person becomes weak. The prescription mentioned in the hadith makes the stomach moist and strong. It removes sorrow and brings comfort to the heart. This is beneficial when it is soft, thin, and well-cooked; if it is thick or not properly cooked, it does not possess the aforementioned quality. And Allah knows best.

It is narrated on the authority of 'Abdul Rahman bin Abu Laila that Zaid used to recite four takbirs on our funerals and he recited five takbirs on one funeral. I asked him the reason (for this variation), to which he replied: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) recited thus.

Hadith Commentary:Benefits and Issues: The Prophet Muhammad (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) would generally pronounce four takbirs during the funeral prayer, and this was also the usual practice of the Rightly Guided Caliphs (radi Allahu anhum ajma'in). However, on some occasions, more than this number of takbirs have also been authentically reported from him (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam), that is, up to five or even seven.
