Hadith Commentary:
(1)
In one narration, it is stated that the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) said:
"The prayer of two people is not accepted:
one, a runaway slave until he returns, and the other, a woman who has disobeyed her husband until she refrains from doing so."
(Silsilat al-Ahadith al-Sahihah, Hadith: 288)
(2)
From this hadith, it is understood that a wife should be in agreement with her husband and should take care of him. It is also understood that a woman’s patience in abstaining from intercourse is stronger than that of a man.
The man is very weak in this matter.
And Allah knows best. (Fath al-Bari: 9/366)

Hadith Commentary:
Along with Abu Awanah, this hadith has also been narrated from A’mash by Shu’bah, Abu Hamzah, Abdullah ibn Dawud, and Abu Mu’awiyah.
The author himself has connected (mawsul) the narration of Shu’bah in the Book of Marriage (Kitab al-Nikah), and the narration of Abu Hamzah has not been found in a connected form. The narration of Ibn Dawud has been connected by Musaddad in his major Musnad, and the narration of Abu Mu’awiyah has been brought in a connected form by Imam Muslim and al-Nasa’i.
The purpose of bringing this hadith here is to establish the existence of angels, that by Allah’s command, they continue to send curses throughout the night upon such a disobedient woman.
From this, it is also established how necessary it is for a woman to obey her husband.
Not valuing the husband’s desire can become a cause of misfortune for the woman.
A woman’s adornment is that her lap is filled with children, and for a child, union with the husband is necessary, which the woman refused.
It is possible that through this union, she might have attained the blessing of offspring; besides this, there are many other benefits due to which obedience to the husband is necessary for the woman.
In the case of disobedience, many kinds of corruption can arise.

Hadith Commentary:
➊
It is possible that through this union, the woman may be granted the blessing of children, which is the greatest adornment for a woman in this world.
In addition to this, there are many other benefits due to which it is necessary for a woman to respect her husband's desire.
If she does not comply, many harms can arise.
➋
The mention of the night in the hadith is in view of general circumstances; otherwise, this warning applies to the refusal of marital rights whether it occurs during the day or night.
➌
The purpose of this hadith is to establish the existence of angels, that they, by Allah's command, continue to send curses and condemnation throughout the night upon such a disobedient woman.

Hadith Commentary:
Whether a woman's anger is justified or unjustified, it remains her obligation, in view of obedience, to present herself on her husband's bed. If, due to displeasure, she does not do so at night, then without doubt she becomes deserving of this severe warning.
Obedience to the husband alone can improve a woman's life.

Hadith Commentary:
Generally, the intimacy between husband and wife takes place at night, which is why the words "until morning" have been used; otherwise, this ruling applies to both day and night, as is evident from another hadith in which the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) said:
"By the One in Whose hand is my soul! If a man calls his wife to his bed and she refuses, then the One above the heavens becomes very angry with her until her husband is pleased with her."
(Sahih Muslim, Kitab al-Nikah, Hadith: 3540 (1436))
In this narration, there is no mention of the night.
It is thus understood that the aforementioned ruling includes both night and day.
In another narration, it is stated that when the husband is angry with her, she becomes deserving of a curse.
This means that if the husband is not angry, then the woman does not come under the threat of a curse.

Hadith Commentary:
Benefits and Issues:
It is the wife's obligation to respect her husband's desire,
and to be present on his bed when he requests or desires it,
and not to refuse attendance without any excuse or necessity,
Even in the state of menstruation (hayd), while refraining from conjugal relations, there is no harm in expressing mutual affection and love,
However, if there is a risk of intercourse (jima‘), then the husband should abstain,
and if the husband calls her for this reason, then the woman should refuse; if she refuses without a legitimate Shar‘i excuse or necessity (such as illness, weakness, etc.),
then she becomes deserving of the angels’ curse.

Benefits and Issues:
The fundamental reality is exactly as the Messenger (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) has stated: in this way, the door to countless psychological and social evils is closed, and in the case of refusal, many individual, familial, and societal corruptions arise.
Therefore, it is necessary for a woman to take into consideration the feelings of her husband. However, if there is a valid excuse but the husband is not giving it importance—
For example, if the wife is very ill, her health cannot bear fulfilling the man’s desire, or there is any other kind of valid excuse, then it is hoped that the wife’s refusal will not be subject to accountability with Allah (azza wa jall).

Takhrij:
«أخرجه البخاري، النكاح، باب إذا باتت المرأة مهاجرة فراش زوجها، حديث:5193، 3237، ومسلم، النكاح، باب تحريم امتناعها من فراش زوجها، حديث:1436.»©Explanation:
➊ According to this hadith, for a wife to refuse (without valid reason) to fulfill her husband's sexual desire is a major sin (kabirah).
➋ This is a right of the husband over the wife which it is obligatory for the wife to fulfill.
However, it is also extremely important for the husband to take into consideration the wife's health and condition.
