Narrated `Aisha: Allah's Apostle said (to me), "You were shown to me in a dream. An angel brought you to me, wrapped in a piece of silken cloth, and said to me, 'This is your wife.' I removed the piece of cloth from your face, and there you were. I said to myself. 'If it is from Allah, then it will surely be.' "

Hadith Commentary:
(1)
Imam Bukhari rahimahullah’s reasoning from this hadith is based on two points:
➊ The Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam saw Aisha radi Allahu anha in a dream, and the dreams of the Prophets alayhimus salam are true and genuine.
His seeing her in a dream is as if he saw her in a state of wakefulness.
➋ The Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam saw Aisha radi Allahu anha in reality; her image was not shown to him, as is clearly indicated by the words of the hadith.
Although at that time it was the period of childhood, the ruling of looking at one’s betrothed before marriage is established from this.
(Fath al-Bari: 9/227)
(2)
The benefit in looking at a woman once before marriage is that it brings peace of mind and increases inclination.
And Allah knows best.
