Narrated Abu Mas'ud: The Prophet said, "If somebody recited the last two Verses of Surat Al-Baqara at night, that will be sufficient for him."
Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Abdul Sattar al-Hammad
Hadith Commentary:
1.
By the last two verses is meant:
﴿آمَنَ الرَّسُولُ بِمَا أُنزِلَ إِلَيْهِ مِن رَّبِّهِ وَالْمُؤْمِنُونَ ۚ ....... عَلَى الْقَوْمِ الْكَافِرِينَ﴾ up to the last verse.
In these verses, the praise of Allah Almighty, the obedience of the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam), and the compliance of the noble Companions (radi Allahu anhum ajma'in), as well as their turning to Allah in all matters, have been mentioned. On this basis, their special quality is that these two verses are sufficient for mankind.
The meaning of sufficiency has been explained as: whoever recites them at night before sleeping, this recitation will serve as a substitute for standing in prayer at night (qiyam al-layl).
And he will receive the reward of the night prayer (tahajjud).
Some scholars have said that during that night, a person remains protected from the evil of Satan, rather, he remains safe from every kind of harm.

2.
Hafiz Ibn Hajar rahimahullah has narrated, in the context of the virtues of the Qur'an, that recite these verses yourself, teach them to your children and women, because these verses are the essence of the Qur'an, prayer, and supplication.
