Narrated Abu-Huraira: Gabriel used to repeat the recitation of the Qur'an with the Prophet once a year, but he repeated it twice with him in the year he died. The Prophet used to stay in I`tikaf for ten days every year (in the month of Ramadan), but in the year of his death, he stayed in I`tikaf for twenty days.

Hadith Commentary:
➊
The implication of the title is that Angel Jibril (alayhis salam) would recite the Qur’an and the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) would listen to him. This is also understood from the hadith narrated by Abu Hurairah (radi Allahu anhu), whereas the hadith of Ibn Abbas (radi Allahu anhu) indicates that the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) would recite the Qur’an and Angel Jibril (alayhis salam) would listen to him.
In our time, the concept of “dawr Qur’an” (recitation review) is that first one memorizer recites and the other listens, then the other recites and the first listens.
➋
The Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) would divide the Qur’an that had been revealed throughout the year among all the nights of Ramadan.
Then, during a portion of the night, he would review it (with Jibril), but the entire night was not spent in this review, because the Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) had other engagements at night as well.
For example:
© He would perform tahajjud (late night prayer).
© He would fulfill the rights of his family and other necessities.
© He would dedicate part of the night for rest and tranquility.
➌
In any case, the purpose of Imam Bukhari rahimahullah is to state that the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) had a special attachment to the Noble Qur’an.
He would make special arrangements for its preservation and protection.
And Allah knows best.
