Hadith Commentary:
1.
Regarding Abu Lahab, Allah Almighty’s statement:
“May both hands of Abu Lahab be ruined.”
This does not mean that his physical destruction is intended; rather, these are words of imprecation (curse) that are spoken at times of anger and displeasure.
2.
The worldly relevance of the kunya (nickname) “Abu Lahab” was that his complexion was red like pomegranate seeds, and in the Hereafter, the relevance will be that he will be thrown into a flaming fire, as is explicitly mentioned in the verse cited in the heading.
