Hadith Commentary:
The indication of the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam was towards the people of Persia. Accordingly, Allah the Exalted brought forth the noble scholars of hadith (muhaddithin), most of whom were of Persian descent. In this way, the prophecy of the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam was fulfilled exactly as stated, and the verse: ﴿وَآخَرِينَ مِنْهُمْ لَمَّا يَلْحَقُوا بِهِمْ﴾ () was realized in the noble scholars of hadith.

Hadith Commentary:
The Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam did not answer the question upon being asked a second time because it did not refer to any specific people. Then, when Abu Hurairah radi Allahu anhu asked for the third time, he sallallahu alayhi wa sallam identified the people of Persia (Ahl al-Fars) as those intended, that these people would serve the religion of Islam more than others—and so it happened.

After the era of the noble Companions radi Allahu anhum ajma'in, the extent to which the people of Persia contributed to the propagation and dissemination of Islam was not attained by others.

The majority of the great hadith scholars (muhaddithin kiram) and eminent jurists (fuqaha' azam) belonged to this region. Imam Bukhari rahimahullah was also from this area, as at that time the city of Bukhara was part of the Persian lands.

The services Imam Bukhari rahimahullah rendered for the elevation of Islam are vast and far-reaching.

We have mentioned a brief account of these in the introduction. May Allah the Exalted grant him a great reward in His presence.

Amin.
