Hadith 4843

حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ خَالِدٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي قِلَابَةَ ، عَنْ ثَابِتِ بْنِ الضَّحَّاكِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، "وَكَانَ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ الشَّجَرَةِ .
Narrated Thabit bin Ad-Dahhak: who was one of the companions of the tree (those who swore allegiance to the Prophet beneath the tree at Al-Hudaibiya):

Hadith Commentary:
At this point, Imam Bukhari rahimahullah did not mention the text of the hadith because his sole purpose was to establish that he (the narrator) was among the Companions of the Tree (the noble Companions radi Allahu anhum ajma'in who pledged allegiance under the tree). Thus, in one narration, it is explicitly stated: Hazrat Thabit bin Dhahhak radi Allahu ta'ala anhu says, "I pledged the Bay‘at al-Ridwan (Pledge of Allegiance of Pleasure) to the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam under the tree."
