بَابُ: {إِنَّا فَتَحْنَا لَكَ فَتْحًا مُبِينًا} :Chapter. The Statement of Allah: “Verily, We have given you (O Muhammad ) a manifest victory.” (V.48:1)

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا غُنْدَرٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، سَمِعْتُ قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ : " إِنَّا فَتَحْنَا لَكَ فَتْحًا مُبِينًا سورة الفتح آية 1 ، قَالَ : الْحُدَيْبِيَةُ " .
Narrated Anas: "Verily, We have given you (O Muhammad) a manifest victory.' refers to Al-Hudaibiya Peace treaty).

Hadith Commentary:
In this treaty, peace was established on several terms that the majority of the noble Companions (radi Allahu anhum ajma'in) disliked. However, the prophetic insight foresaw its far-reaching effects and considered it better to accept peace on the conditions set by the disbelievers. Accordingly, upon returning from Hudaybiyyah, this surah was revealed in which this treaty was described as a clear victory (fath mubin), because this treaty proved to be a prelude to the conquest of Makkah.
