Hadith 4779

Mujahid said that the meaning of «مهين‏» is weak, feeble (or insignificant), referring to a man's semen. The meaning of «ضللنا‏» is "we are destroyed." Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) said «جرز» is the land where there is very little rain, from which no benefit is derived (or hard and dry land). The meaning of «يهد‏» is "we explain."
Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah's Messenger said, "Allah said, 'I have prepared for my pious worshipers such things as no eye has ever seen, no ear has ever heard of, and nobody has ever thought of." Abu Huraira added: If you wish you can read:-- 'No soul knows what is kept hidden (in reserve) for them of joy as reward for what they used to do.' 32.17.

Hadith Commentary:

It is understood from this hadith that, up until now, no human being has been informed of the blessings of Paradise, nor has any close angel or sent prophet received knowledge of them. However, the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) is an exception to this.
Because, on one occasion during the eclipse prayer (salat al-kusuf), he saw Paradise and its fruits and intended to pluck them, but for certain reasons, he refrained from doing so.
During the event of Mi'raj (the Ascension), he also witnessed Paradise and its blessings.
From this, it is evident that he (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) is informed of the delights of Paradise.

The meaning of the noble verse is that just as Allah’s righteous servants used to worship Allah in secret during the night and perform the night prayer (tahajjud), Allah, the Exalted, has also kept precious rewards hidden for them.
No one has any knowledge of these rewards.

Hadith Commentary:
In this hadith qudsi as well, the speech of Allah Ta'ala has been transmitted, which is other than the Noble Qur'an, and this speech is based on reality. Furthermore, this speech is uncreated and is related to the will (mashiyyah) of Allah Ta'ala.
Whenever Allah Ta'ala wills, He honors whomever He wills with this type of speech.

Benefits and Issues:

A person can only imagine those blessings which he has attained or blessings similar to those he has experienced.
Whereas the blessings of Paradise are completely unique and unparalleled compared to these.

Many of the blessings of Paradise are such that their namesakes exist in this world, for example, various fruits, the meat of birds, different kinds of drinks, etc. Even in these, there is a vast difference between the blessings of this world and those of Paradise—like the difference between the earth and the sky.
Apart from these, there are also such blessings of which we cannot even conceive,
because they in no way resemble the blessings of this world.

No eye has seen them.
By this is meant humans and jinn.
They have neither seen nor heard of these blessings. Those individuals who have passed away or have been martyred and have reached Paradise are enjoying these blessings.

Every blessing of Paradise is a source of pure happiness and joy.
Unlike the things of this world, there is no hardship or toil required to attain them, nor is there any risk of losing them after attainment, or of them being stolen or perishing, nor are there any undesirable side effects from their use, such as stomach discomfort from overeating, etc.—none of this exists.

Some words of the Noble Qur’an can be recited in more than one way.
But for this, it is necessary
that the method be transmitted through an authentic chain.
The scholars of Qira’at and Tajweed have explained such words and the ways of reciting them.
It is not permissible to recite them in any way other than these.

Explanation of the Hadith:
In this Hadith Qudsi, all human beings are explicitly encouraged to aspire for Paradise. This is in such a way that whoever becomes obedient and submissive to Allah Ta’ala, He will bestow upon him such lofty rewards and honors that are beyond his imagination and conception.

In Paradise, there will be such blessings and comforts, the likes of which the eyes of the people of this world have never seen, nor have their ears ever heard of them.

Moreover, those blessings have reached such a level of perfection that no heart has ever conceived or imagined them. This is because people do not possess hearts that can form a conception of the blessings and comforts of Paradise, meaning that such hearts do not have the power of imagination. Allah Ta’ala, while mentioning the destruction and ruin of previous nations, has stated:

«إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَذِكْرَىٰ لِمَن كَانَ لَهُ قَلْبٌ» [ق: 37]
“Indeed, in these (past events) there is a lesson for every person who possesses a heart.”

From this blessed verse, it becomes completely clear that although everyone possesses a piece of flesh, i.e., a heart, what is meant here is a heart that accepts admonition.

It is generally well-known that no eye can see Paradise and its springtime and blessings, whereas the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) witnessed them during the event of Mi’raj. The answer to this is that what is meant by this absolute negation is that the Ummah of Muhammad (alayhi as-salatu was-salam) has not seen them; the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) is an exception to this.

Blessings Beyond Human Imagination:
«وَلَا خَطَرَ عَلَي قَلْبٍ بَشَرٍ» “And nor has their thought even occurred in the heart of any human.” In this hadith, the word “bashar” (human) is used, by which it is meant that the blessings and comforts of Paradise have been created only for humans, not for angels. Thus, these words have been used to instill longing in humans.

Sayyiduna Musa (alayhis salam) asked Allah Ta’ala, “O my Lord! What is the highest rank in Paradise for the people of Paradise?” (In response) the Divine Being said: “(It is such a rank) where I have planted the trees with My own hand and have set seals upon them, so that no eye can see it, no ear can hear of it, and no heart can even conceive of it.”

At the end of another narration, these words are mentioned: “And the confirmation of this is also found in the Book of Allah, as He said: «فَلَا تَعْلَمُ نَفْسٌ مَّا أُخْفِيَ لَهُم مِّن قُرَّةِ أَعْيُنٍ» [سورة السجده: 17]
‘No soul knows what comfort has been hidden for them as a reward for what they used to do.’” [صحيح مسلم، كتاب الايمان، رقم: 465 - سنن ترمذي، رقم: 3198 - فتح الباري: 516/8]

Benefit:
This is a Hadith Qudsi. In it, Allah Ta'ala has mentioned the blessings of Paradise, stating that there will be such blessings in Paradise that no one in the world has even imagined or conceived of them. From this, it is also proven that Allah Ta'ala has created man entirely weak. It is also established from this that Allah Ta'ala does not let anyone's piety go to waste, and He will certainly grant them the reward for their efforts.
