Hadith Commentary:
Isma‘ili has connected this narration.
In one narration, it is stated that by “Maqam Mahmood” (the Praiseworthy Station) it is meant that Allah, exalted is He, will seat the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam with Him upon the Throne (‘Arsh).
Such narrations cause the Jahmiyyah to lose their composure, while they bring new life to the spirit of the Ahl al-Hadith.
(Wahidi)
By “Maqam Mahmood,” the station and rank of intercession (shafa‘ah) is also intended, as well as that palace in the highest part of Paradise (Firdaws al-A‘la) which has been specially prepared for you and is the loftiest and most exalted.
In short, “Maqam Mahmood” is a comprehensive term.
In both the apparent and hidden realms, Allah has granted His beloved sallallahu alayhi wa sallam many lofty ranks.
“All that the beautiful ones possess, you alone possess.”
O Allah! Grant me, after death, the meeting with Your beloved sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, and on the Day of Resurrection, honor not only me but all the Muslim men and women who study Sahih al-Bukhari with the intercession (shafa‘ah) of Your Prophet (Ameen).

Hadith Commentary:
1.
The first hadith has been mentioned briefly.
The detail is that people will first go to Prophet Adam (alayhis salam).
After him, they will, one by one, request intercession from other prophets (alayhimus salam), but each prophet will recall some shortcoming of his and will excuse himself.
Eventually, all the people will present themselves before the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam), and in view of their plea, he will intercede for them before Allah, the Exalted.
This station of intercession is what is called the "Maqam Mahmood" (the Praised Station), as the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) himself has explained. Thus, Abdullah ibn Mas'ud (radi Allahu anhu) says that someone asked the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) about the Maqam Mahmood, so he replied:
"It refers to the station of intercession."
(Jami' al-Tirmidhi, Tafsir al-Qur'an, Hadith: 3137)
2.
At that time, praise and glorification of you (the Prophet) will be on the tongues of all people, as is explicitly stated in a hadith.
The Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) will intercede with Allah, the Exalted, to judge between the people.
He will proceed and take hold of the ring of the gate of Paradise.
At that time, Allah, the Exalted, will grant him the Maqam Mahmood.
All the people of the gathering will begin to praise you.
(Sahih al-Bukhari, al-Zakah, Hadith: 1475)
