Hadith Commentary:
It is a matter of faith and determination that when these qualities were flourishing among the Muslims, each individual among them would prevail over ten others, and when there was a decline in these qualities, the strength of the Muslims also diminished.
It is a great favor and grace of Allah that today I am completing the writing of the eighteenth part (juz) of the Qur’an.
This year, in particular, I have been afflicted with many worries and concerns.
My health had reached a level that was almost despairing.
Material and personal losses had broken the back of my resolve, yet the passion in my heart remained that, whatever the circumstances,
In any case and under all conditions, the service of Sahih al-Bukhari must be carried out.
After the passing of the scribe of Bukhari, Mawlana Muhammad Hasan Ladakhi rahimahullah, I had very little hope that this noble endeavor could continue as intended.
But Allah, the Most Pure, accepted the prayers of the sincere, and in place of the late Mawlana Ladakhi, my old friend, brother Mawlana Abdul Khaliq Sahib Khaliq Bastawi, wholeheartedly agreed to undertake this service as scribe.
Alhamdulillah, this part has been written by the pen of the aforementioned Mawlana.
My prayer is that Allah, the Most Pure, grants me and all my scribes the good fortune to complete this service in good health.
This part consists mostly of the Book of Tafsir.
The Imam of the hadith scholars, Hazrat Imam Bukhari rahimahullah, in this section, has selected various words and verses and explained their meanings, implications, and occasions of revelation, etc., in the Salafi manner.
From these, students of the Noble Qur’an like us can obtain many valuable pieces of information.
In the translation and explanations, this servant has observed brevity.
Even so, the volume of this part has become considerable.
In this era of staggering inflation, to continuously carry out this service is not an easy task.
The mental and intellectual effort of studying books of translation and commentary, then running after scribes and printing presses, and facing the current inflation—these circumstances are all extremely discouraging.
But it is the support of the prayers of the sincere that, by Allah’s special grace, I have reached this point.
Some mistakes will certainly be found due to oversight.
Therefore, along with seeking forgiveness from my esteemed readers, I respectfully request the honorable scholars to kindly correct me, so that I may have the opportunity to express my heartfelt gratitude, and to remember this insignificant one in their prayers, so that I may be able to complete the remaining service in the best manner, for which much time and resources are still needed.
O Allah, I am performing this humble service of writing the noble sayings of Your beloved Messenger, the Noble Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, solely to attain Your pleasure. So accept this humble service and make it a means of success in both worlds for me and all my well-wishers, and after me, continue this missionary endeavor and grant perpetuity to this ongoing charity (sadaqah jariyah).
Amin. Our Lord, accept from us; indeed, You are the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing. And blessings of Allah be upon His noble Messenger, and all praise is due to Allah, Lord of the worlds.

Shaykh Abdul Sattar al-Hammad
Hadith Commentary:
1.
When faith, resolve, and courage, etc., were at their peak among the Muslims, each individual among them was heavier than ten individuals (of the enemy). And when there was a decrease in these qualities, the strength of the Muslims also changed. This is the negative result of the concession (takhfif). Now, one should not think that the first ruling has been abrogated or is no longer applicable; rather, its meaning is that when these new Muslims become fully prepared and their strength of faith becomes firm, then the previous ruling will again be implemented. Accordingly, this actually happened in the last battles of the Prophetic era, and many such examples are also found in the era of the Rightly Guided Caliphs (radi Allahu anhum ajma'in). For instance, at the time of the Battle of Mu'tah, three thousand Muslims stood firm against one hundred thousand disbelievers.
2.
Since there are two felicities for the Muslim from which the disbeliever is deprived: if the believer is martyred in battle, he goes straight to Paradise, and if he returns safely, he comes back with war booty and a great reward. But the disbeliever fights only for worldly possessions, and thus he is deprived of felicity in the Hereafter.
