Hadith 4433

Narrated `Aisha: The Prophet called Fatima during his fatal illness and told her something secretly and she wept. Then he called her again and told her something secretly, and she started laughing. When we asked her about that, she said, "The Prophet first told me secretly that he would expire in that disease in which he died, so I wept; then he told me secretly that I would be the first of his family to follow him, so I laughed ( at that time).

Hadith Commentary:
1.
In one narration, it is mentioned that when Fatimah (radi Allahu anha) came, her manner of walking was like that of the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam). The Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) said:
"O dear daughter! Welcome."
Then he seated her either to his right or left side. Then he spoke to her quietly, and she began to weep.
I asked:
"Why are you crying?" Then he spoke to her quietly again, and she laughed.
I said: "Today I have seen emotions of both grief and happiness together. I asked her about it, and she said:
'I do not wish to disclose the secret of the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam).'
When the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) passed away, I asked her again, and she said:
'The first time, the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) quietly said to me:
"Jibril (alayhis salam) would review the Qur'an with me once a year, but this year he reviewed it with me twice. I think that my death is near, and you will be the first among my family to join me."
So I began to weep.
Then he said:
"You will be the leader of the women of Paradise. Does this not please you?" Upon hearing this glad tiding, I laughed.'
(Sahih al-Bukhari, Manaqib al-Ansar, Hadith: 3623, 3624)

2.
From this narration, it is understood that there were two reasons for Fatimah's (radi Allahu anha) laughter: one mentioned in the first narration, and the other mentioned in this narration.
And Allah knows best.
