Hadith Commentary:
The last verse referred to here pertains to the issues of inheritance; otherwise, the very last verse that was revealed a few days before the passing of the Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) is the verse:
﴿يَسْتَفْتُونَكَ قُلْ اللَّهُ يُفْتِيكُمْ فِي الْكَلَالَةِ﴾ () (al-Baqarah: 281).

Hadith Commentary:
1.
The relevance of this hadith to the chapter heading is as follows: In Surah Bara’ah, Allah the Exalted says:
“The polytheists are impure, so let them not approach the Sacred Mosque after this year.” (: al-Tawbah 9:28)
These verses were recited to the people on the occasion of the Hajj led by Abu Bakr, and it was proclaimed that in the coming year, no polytheist should come for Hajj. Furthermore, when Surah Bara’ah was revealed, someone said that it would have been better if this surah had been given to Abu Bakr (radi Allahu anhu) to deliver. The Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) said:
“Only a person from my household will proclaim Bara’ah on my behalf.”
Then he called Ali (radi Allahu anhu) and said:
“You go to proclaim Bara’ah, and announce it on the Day of Sacrifice (Yawm al-Nahr) when the people are gathered in Mina.”
Abu Hurairah (radi Allahu anhu) was also with them.
