Narrated Isma`il: I saw (a healed scar of) blow over the hand of Ibn Abi `Aufa who said, "I received that blow in the battle of Hunain in the company of the Prophet." I said, "Did you take part in the battle of Hunain?" He replied, "Yes (and in other battles) before it."

Hadith Commentary:

The questioner’s intent was to ask: In which battle did he participate before Hunayn? He replied that he had taken part in several battles.
He had participated in the Treaty of Hudaybiyyah.

Some hadiths indicate that he was also present at the Battle of the Trench (Khandaq).
He is a Companion (Sahabi), the son of a Companion.

He was among those who pledged allegiance to the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) beneath the tree.
He was the last Companion who passed away in Kufa.
It should be noted that his death occurred in 86 AH.
