Narrated Mujashi bin Masud: I took Abu Mabad to the Prophet in order that he might give him the pledge of allegiance for migration. The Prophet said, "Migration has gone to its people, but I take the pledge from him (i.e. Abu Mabad) for Islam and Jihad."

Hadith Commentary:

This hadith alludes to the incident that occurred after the Conquest of Makkah.

The meaning of the noble statement of the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) is that migration (hijrah) has ended for the emigrants, and the migration which held virtue was before the Conquest of Makkah. Whoever was destined for this virtue has attained it. Now, only allegiance (bay‘ah) will be taken from them.
What is important in Islam is to remain steadfast upon Islam and faith (iman), and to strive (jihad) in the path of Allah.

This ruling pertains to the migration (hijrah) of Madinah.
If, in any region, conditions like those of Makkah arise for the Muslims, then even today they may migrate towards the abode of Islam (dar al-Islam).
It is hoped that with Allah, they will receive the reward of migration, but sincerity of intention is absolutely essential.

In one narration, it is clarified that Mujashi‘ bin Mas‘ud (radi Allahu anhu) brought his brother Mujalid bin Mas‘ud (radi Allahu anhu) to the service of the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) and said:
“O Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam)! This is Mujalid; he wishes to pledge allegiance to you for migration (hijrah).” So the Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) said:
“After the Conquest of Makkah, the time for migration has ended, but I take his pledge for remaining steadfast upon Islam.”
