Narrated Az-Zuhri: While we were in the company of the Ibn Al-Musaiyab, Sunain Abi Jamila informed us (a Hadith), Abu Jamila said that he lived during the lifetime of the Prophet and that he had accompanied him ( to Mecca) during the year of the Conquest (of Mecca).

Ibn Mandah, Abu Nu'aym, and Ibn Abd al-Barr have also mentioned him (Abu Jamilah radi Allahu anhu) among the Companions (radi Allahu anhum), and have stated that he was with the Noble Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) during the Farewell Pilgrimage (Hajjat al-Wada').

The majority of the scholars have stated that if a just and reliable contemporary of the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam claims to be a Companion (Sahabi), then he is truthful in this claim.
