Then we heard `Aisha brushing her teeth whereupon `Urwa said, "O mother of the believers! Don't you hear what Abu `Abdur-Rahman is saying? He is saying that the Prophet performed four `Umra, one of which was in Rajab." `Aisha said, "The Prophet did not perform any `Umra but he (i.e. Ibn `Umar) witnessed it. And he (the Prophet ) never did any `Umra in (the month of) Rajab."

Hadith Footnote:
Upon hearing this statement from Aisha (radi Allahu anha), Ibn Umar (radi Allahu anhu) remained silent.
From this, the correctness of Aisha’s (radi Allahu anha) statement is established.

Hadith Commentary:
➊
Aishah (radi Allahu anha) did not reject anything Abdullah ibn Umar (radi Allahu anhu) said, she only clarified that the Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) did not perform any ‘umrah in the month of Rajab.
Upon hearing this clarification, Abdullah ibn Umar (radi Allahu anhu) remained silent.
This shows that he had said this out of forgetfulness or by mistake, therefore it is not correct to say that the statement of Abdullah ibn Umar (radi Allahu anhu) is affirmative and Aishah (radi Allahu anha) is negating it, and thus the affirmative is given precedence and is stronger than the negation.
This principle is correct in its own place, but its application is specific.
➋
The hadith scholars have collected thirteen instances of forgetfulness regarding Abdullah ibn Umar (radi Allahu anhu), one of which is that the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) performed an ‘umrah in Rajab.
Aishah’s (radi Allahu anha) objection was not to the number, but to performing ‘umrah in the month of Rajab.
In one narration, Aishah (radi Allahu anha) said:
May Allah have mercy on Abu Abdur-Rahman (radi Allahu anhu).
The Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) did not perform any ‘umrah in Rajab.
