Hadith Commentary:
➊ The Ansari man from Banu ‘Adi whom the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) appointed as the administrator (amil) of Khaybar was Suwad ibn Ghaziyyah. He was the first revenue officer there. The Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) appointed him to collect the land tax (kharaj) of Khaybar and to receive the share from its orchards.

➋ Al-Khatib al-Baghdadi has mentioned that the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) appointed Ibn Sa’sa’ah (radi Allahu anhu) as the administrator of Khaybar. Perhaps this refers to a different incident, because it is explicitly stated in Abu ‘Awanah and al-Daraqutni that the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) appointed Suwad ibn Ghaziyyah from the tribe of ‘Adi ibn al-Najjar as the revenue officer of Khaybar.
